Long Way Down. Today its out. Now its real, its indented on a record and its out there in the big wide world. Its no longer just an idea, a dream I once had. Its here and its written in the stone. When you listen to the album, I hope you hear honesty, sincerity and a rawness that I tried to give the record. I can’t wait to sing some of these songs with you over the next few months, in the middle of a grassy field at a festival or at one of the many cities we visit in the Autumn. Its surreal for me to see all the songs on Long Way Down, sitting there as if they were always meant to be, songs that were once so personal to me. But now thats where they live, and they are yours, yours to look after, and yours enjoy.
Anyway, here’s to the end of the first chapter, Long Way Down, thankyou for all your love and support and I’ll see you at the next one.
The EP I’m releasing for Record Store Day on Saturday is called ‘The Daytrotter Recordings’.
When I found out I had the opportunity to release something for Record Store Day I was excited. Just the chance to get back in the recording studio seemed very appealing. I wanted to do something different. The thing I love about Record Store Day is that the releases are completely unique. It’s one of the few moments when you can find and own something that won’t be available anywhere else. It becomes more personal. It becomes more special.
I decided I wanted to release an EP that could emulate some of the stuff I’ve been doing on the road with my band. I wanted it to sound live. So we recorded a set of some of my favourite songs, and we recorded them straight to tape. We only had a couple of hours, and a couple of reels of the stuff, but that made it all the more compelling.
Hope you enjoy, Tom

Im gonna be coming back to Chichester in a few weeks for a couple of days off.. and it got me thinking its been years since I’ve played there. so I’m gonna do a gig at the Havana on 25 April, and it only holds 100 people but I think it’s gonna be fun. If you want tickets, they’re a fiver and you can enter the ballot for them here.
I have some news… Long Way Down is going to be released in the US this June. Things are going well over there and everyone who came to see me at SXSW was amazing. In Europe, Another Love has been in the top 10 in a few countries which is just amazing so we’re going to put out the record across Europe too. Really happy about it all and thank you to everyone who’s helped me get to this point.
The flipside of all this is that the UK release of Long Way Down needs to go back to June so that all the releases dates across the world are the same. These days having different release dates would mean the album may end up getting leaked which is not fair on all of you who paid for it. All your pre-orders are still valid of course and I’m really sorry to keep you waiting longer. Hope you understand it’s for the right reasons, I’m sorry, but to keep you going until then here’s a free download of the Long Way Down demo. Thanks for listening and for the support.
